Today we woke and rested with our coffee and breakfast.
We took it easy for the first half of the day staying at
home and resting up.
Later in the after noon we headed over towards Peggy’s Cove
and Halifax.

PEGGY’S COVE
We arrived to see some of the most photographed locations
in Canada including the famous Peggy's Cove Lighthouse. Pictures are worth a thousand words
so I'll leave a few examples here.
Peggy's Cove Lighthouse used to be a Post Office as well! |
Hard Core Fishing Community |
This community is one that Nova Scotia is known for. |
Lobsters and homes. |
At the same time we were there, a Movie Company was filming
the new Beethoven Movie. It’s quite the place!

The Movie Set & Crew. |
The name on this boat is "Freedom 55 ! " It looks run down... Is that a sign? |
HALIFAX
We didn’t have a lot of time left today but buzzed into
Halifax for a quick trip.
We went down past the Wharf and saw Canada’s Atlantic Navy
Fleet.
I love seeing the Navy ships! |
After that we saw Pier 21 where many of Canada’s Immigrants
came through. It makes one wonder if our families came through here as
well?
We drove by the Citadel but it was too late to get in and
the sun was going down. I would suggest if old Forts interest you that you Google
this one too!
ACADIANS
I previously mentioned what we learned about Acadians.
Prior to that my only experience with one was that in the
60’s and early 70’s Pontiac made a car that was nearly identical to the Chevy Nova
only with more chrome.
It was called an Acadian and was only available in Canada,
not the USA.
Here are some photos with a brief history on the Acadians
and Cajun’s.
I hope that when you click on the photo's that you can read them?
I wasn't aware of this. |
Yikes one side of my family is English the other side is French/German! |
A map showing the Derangement. |
I don’t know when we will have internet again as tomorrow morning
we head out from Nova Scotia to see Prince Edward Island (PEI) and then head
back towards Maine. Time permitting we may stop on the way in St. Andrews, New Brunswick and see the Bay of
Fundy too?
Talk to you soon!
