Jim’s Joke of the Month!
Police Stop A Buggy
Police Stop A Buggy
A woman was driving her buggy to St. Jacob’s when an traffic
officer stopped her.
Lots of Amish Buggies in this area. I sort of envy their simple lifestyle! |
"I'm not going to cite you," said the officer. "I just wanted to
warn you that the triangle reflector on the back of your buggy is about to fall
off."
"I thank thee," replied the Mennonite lady. "I shall have my husband repair it as soon as I return home."
"Also," said the officer, "I noticed one of your reins to your horse is wrapped around his testicles.

"Also," said the officer, "I noticed one of your reins to your horse is wrapped around his testicles.
Some people might consider this cruelty to animals so you should
have your husband check that too."
"Again I thank thee. I shall have my husband check this when I get home."
True to her word, when the Amish lady got home, she told her husband about the broken reflector. He said he would fix it immediately.
"Also," said the woman, "the policeman said there was something wrong with the emergency brake!"

Okay back to serious!
Not a lot to report. We left Oil City Family Campground around 1130 am this morning (Sept 11th) and
headed out through the forested wilderness of PA northbound. Before you knew it
we were in New York state. Beautiful countryside with thick tree covered
forests!
When leaving and as
always when we hit the road I do a safety check and part of that is a light
check. For the last couple of legs we haven’t had any taillights on the Toad
when the headlights are on in the motorhome and I don’t know why? My guess is
that it’s something in the umbilical cord (More RV lingo – the power &
light cord from the RV to the towed vehicle or toad).
Another thing that
popped up was a burnt out brake light on the RV. I’m guessing you know how
relaxed and almost bored I must be when writing about these things to you!
Relaxed yes but bored I am not. So far I haven’t felt bored but have looked for
things to do. The other night I even threw a few hoops at the campground – can
you believe that?
So with the
electrical issues and knowing that sooner we need those big RV tires replaced I
thought today might be a good day to find a place and Camping World wins out so
far. There was one in Bath, New York so we headed in that direction.
On the way to Bath we
stopped at a roadside casino in Seneca, NY and had some lunch. We wandered the
casino but didn’t even drop a nickel. We were only gone about an hour and
forgot one very important thing before leaving the RV.
We had forgotten to
walk Romeo! Poor guy was left to fend for himself in the rig while we were out
and about. So he did fend for himself by having a poop and a pee all inside our
rig! I couldn’t get mad at him and it’s not his nature to do business inside or
where he lives so he must really have had to go.
So after the clean up
we headed off but not before I was able to wander around and check out a newer
Bounder parked near us. Man a nice rig but I’m sure the price tag would be
large on one of those babies. Besides our Bounder does the job just fine, but
one can always dream.
We got to Bath at
about 6pm. Went direct to the Camping World store (they are the biggest
multi-state RV store in the USA) but they were just closing. So we parked
near-by for the night at the local K-Mart store after getting permission.
We hit some rain earlier
today on the freeway, the first real rain storm we have seen complete with lots
of fork lightening. Wow, some of this lightening and the thunder that goes with
it is quite the show! As soon as we got parked for the night it started to rain
again and pour it did! At least this way we know the RV is waterproof with no
leaks found!
One wonders why they
call this town Bath?
I’m guessing but I
have seen so many names from Great Britain and Europe in the North Eastern
states that the early settlers likely brought the names with them from home.
Bath is a place Barb stayed at while stranded in England about 4 years ago.
Today I also saw Belfast. Another would be “New” York, “New” Jersey and so on.
Add to that they are not all from Europe as I drove by and saw Cuba today as
well!
If you know American
history better than I, which shouldn’t be hard, feel free to send me an email
on this or any other topic that you know about. I wish I would’ve spent more
time last summer studying some of this to have a better understanding.
Today (Thursday, Sept 12) we are getting some maintenance done on the Motor Home at Camping World. Then we will tour the area once that is done. Its cloudy, rainy and windy today with a forecast of more of the same.
One thing Im thinking about today was that I had to cancel my concert. Hayley and I were booked to go to the Eagle's concert and because we decided to go on this trip I had to cancel. The first Eagles concert that I have ever missed!
Cioa!
